The Backstory: Set on a stylish patio inside the newly rebranded March Hotel in SoFi, Orilla Bar & Grill is a sleek, tropical jewel box serving South American fare.
The Experience: An open-air dining room outfitted with black marble, deep green banquettes, woven chairs, and a riot of lush palm trees, all framed by long, clean modernist lines. It fittingly sets the scene for a modern Argentinian feast with global influences where red meat takes center stage, backed by plenty of seafood, pasta, and small plate options.
A former apprentice to legendary Argentine chef and grill master Francis Mallmann, chef Fernando Trocca works magic over an open flame Josper grill with a wide range of beef cuts from prime bone-in ribeye to flank, as well as perfectly charred butterflied branzino, sea bass, and free-range chicken. Away from the flame, empanadas are expertly fried and flaky, stuffed with steak or spinach and cheese.
Perhaps what I love most about Orilla is its signature Life of Riley martini, easily among the best on the beach. Prepared tableside with olive oil-infused Grey Goose and chimichurri oil, the drink is topped with a spear of Castelvetrano olives stuffed with caviar. At $32 (a solid $13 more than the rest of the cocktail list), it’s a worthy indulgence.
Why It’s FOUND: Orilla’s been on the scene since 2019, yet perpetually flies beneath the radar. With a diverse and satisfying menu in a breezy setting, it more than earns its place in the pantheon of South Beach neighborhood staples. –Shayne Benowitz

Neighborhoods you work in: Coral Gables
Neighborhood you live in: El Portal
It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Wake up, jump in my pool, take a deep breath, and battle 95 South traffic to the office in Coral Gables. Typically, a beet juice or coffee in the cup holder, while listening to a murder mystery podcast or NPR.
Given our long partnership with Adidas, all the FIFA employees are marching around the office getting tea or coffee in some form of Adidas gear, whether a Samba or Gazelle or Stan Smith shoe, or past FIFA merch. There are footballs everywhere and lots of references to The Beautiful Game. If you’re not drinking the coffee here, you’ve got your hands full with a morning beverage from Facade and likely one of their cinnamon rolls — one of the best I’ve ever had.
What’s on your agenda for today?
Extensive planning for the Final Draw for the 2026 World Cup, which takes place December 5. It’s the largest event outside the actual tournament, and is effectively the world’s biggest TV show in terms of broadcasters. (More than 200 million tuned in for the 2022 Qatar Final Draw, so it will be even bigger across the US, Mexico, and Canada.) The Final Draw is how the qualifying national teams are allocated into groups and then seeded, so we know the starting matches of the tournament. It sets the stage for the storytelling that leads up to the tournament.
Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
Looking to finally check out Bar Bucce, a new Italian market by the people behind Macchialina. I’ll also follow my favorite pop-up smash burger, Chote Burger, anywhere it goes.
How about a little leisure or culture?
Just got back from Puerto Rico for night 14 of Bad Bunny’s residency at El Choli. It was like a love letter to the island.
Any weekend getaways?
My mom lives in Venice on the west coast of Florida, about a three-hour drive from Miami. Whenever I visit her, I stop at the Culver’s off exit 107 in Naples — it’s a fast food staple from the Midwest that we don’t really have here. There’s a great farmer’s market in downtown Venice every Saturday, and it’s where I bought a gold earring cast of a shark’s tooth. Venice Beach is known for shark teeth; it led me to Aaron the jeweler, who made me a custom earring of a stingray.
What was your last great vacation?
We recently did a tour of southern Spain that started in Madrid where we spent just eight hours on a layover, but made sure to go to Sala de Despiece for lunch. My friend, who I always consult for travel tips, told me about it years ago and I always try to go when I’m there. The food is phenomenal and the staff wear rubber aprons — it’s a very unique vision of a dining experience. We then went to Sevilla, Granada, Cadiz, and Torremolinos by car. We were lucky enough to get reservations to The Alhambra in Granada, an architectural masterpiece and the most beautiful building I’ve ever been in.
What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
I love to try new scents and recently took a tour at Bal Harbour and landed with The Hedonist from Ex Nihilo.
What store or service do you always recommend?
Either Dan at Hairbox or Martin and Drew at Beauty Shop Miami for all your hair needs. Sana Skin Studio for facials.

Island away
Set on a speck of a private island between St. Thomas and St. John in the US Virgin Islands, the family-owned Lovango Resort & Beach Club is a Caribbean escape for those looking to disconnect completely. The resort, which opened in 2021 as the USVI’s first new-build hotel in over 30 years, is anchored by a beach club and infinity pool. The beachfront grounds are made up of a variety of accommodation types, from glamping tents to treehouses and mountainside one-bedroom villas, all with great views of the surrounding islands.
Beyond the beach club and infinity pool, the resort is home to the semi-hidden Crescent Beach — where swimming with sea turtles is highly probable — and you’ll also find a Tulum-style outdoor gym with oversized Flintstone-looking weights and wooden weight benches. All-terrain golf carts are available to shuttle across the resort’s grounds. Hiking trails abound across the sometimes hilly, rocky terrain.
For dining, the Lovango Beach Club is an oceanfront restaurant serving fresh seafood and Caribbean fare at dinnertime, while The Sand Pit is the casual lunch spot for pizza, poke bowls, salads, and wraps, which can also be delivered to your beach or pool chair. (The ice cream sandwich with Rice Krispy coconut ice cream was a particularly sweet mid-day treat.) Breakfast can be enjoyed in-room or at a buffet served at a scenic hilltop safari tent.
Glamping tents feature outdoor showers, large balconies, and open floor plans that invite the island breezes with mosquito netting romantically draped over four-poster beds. The treehouses are air-conditioned and comfortable with sunrooms and stunning views, while the villas are the newest addition to the resort, featuring swinging daybeds on private balconies.
During my stay, the friendly staff was always quick to jump into action — whether for a cocktail by the pool, a lift to the gym, or last-minute reservations at a restaurant in St. John — for when I wasn’t ready to completely disconnect. –Amber Love Bond

Cult following
You know a fitness studio is building a cult following when you start noticing people stacking multiple classes in the same day. That’s the scene lately at Studio Three, a buzzing boutique that opened last year in Wynwood with a second location in Brickell on the way.
