On a recent visit to Orlando, I knew I wanted to try chef Lordfer Lalicon's sisig at Kaya after hearing Filipino friends rave about it. Walking up to the white bungalow-style building in the Mills 50 district with fairy lights out front felt like going to a friend’s backyard barbecue, and somehow the hostess knew who I was before I even introduced myself. To be fair, it’s probably because I was the only solo diner with an early reservation, but the warm, familiar welcome felt genuine.
