The Backstory: Set on a stylish patio inside the newly rebranded March Hotel in SoFi, Orilla Bar & Grill is a sleek, tropical jewel box serving South American fare.
The Experience: An open-air dining room outfitted with black marble, deep green banquettes, woven chairs, and a riot of lush palm trees, all framed by long, clean modernist lines. It fittingly sets the scene for a modern Argentinian feast with global influences where red meat takes center stage, backed by plenty of seafood, pasta, and small plate options.
A former apprentice to legendary Argentine chef and grill master Francis Mallmann, chef Fernando Trocca works magic over an open flame Josper grill with a wide range of beef cuts from prime bone-in ribeye to flank, as well as perfectly charred butterflied branzino, sea bass, and free-range chicken. Away from the flame, empanadas are expertly fried and flaky, stuffed with steak or spinach and cheese.
Perhaps what I love most about Orilla is its signature Life of Riley martini, easily among the best on the beach. Prepared tableside with olive oil-infused Grey Goose and chimichurri oil, the drink is topped with a spear of Castelvetrano olives stuffed with caviar. At $32 (a solid $13 more than the rest of the cocktail list), it’s a worthy indulgence.
Why It’s FOUND: Orilla’s been on the scene since 2019, yet perpetually flies beneath the radar. With a diverse and satisfying menu in a breezy setting, it more than earns its place in the pantheon of South Beach neighborhood staples. –Shayne Benowitz
