Neighborhood you work in: Wynwood
It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Thursdays are one of my favorite days because they give me space to slow down and really focus on what matters. I start early, around 520a. Before anything else, I take a moment to pray, but more than that, I reflect and give gratitude. It’s important for me to ground myself and recognize that I’ve been given another day to show up and do things right.
After that, I get moving. I head out to play tennis with a friend, then go to the gym. It’s a routine that keeps me sharp, physically and mentally. Then I make my way to the office by around 10a. From there, the day becomes about the business and the people behind it. I’m usually in meetings until about 130p. As owner of Cotidiano, a new Mexican restaurant in Wynwood, Thursdays are when I focus heavily on one-on-ones with my team, reviewing the products we’re bringing to market, and diving into finance meetings to make sure everything is running at the highest level. A big part of leadership, for me, is understanding people, making sure the team feels supported and motivated. If your staff is happy, everything else follows.
What’s on the agenda for today?
Today is really about growth and making sure we’re building the right foundation for what comes next. A big part of my focus right now is structuring how we finance our future locations, so my agenda today revolves around aligning that ambition with a solid plan. We’re looking at how to bring in new investors, how to structure deals responsibly, and how to scale without losing what makes us special. It’s not just about opening more locations; it’s about doing it the right way.
Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
I try to balance discovery with sticking to a few places that already feel like home. I love grabbing a burger at Sunny’s. It’s simple, but done right. When I’m in Wynwood, one of my go-to spots is KYU. I’ll usually sit at the bar, talk with the bartender, order a dry martini with three olives, and just work my way through the menu. It’s one of those places where you can really appreciate the craft. I’m also a fan of Dante’s HiFi; the music is great and I love the intimate setting. Other spots I enjoy in the evenings include Mandolin Aegean Bistro and Cha Cha Cha, both great in their own way and perfect for different moods.
If I’m with my family, we’ll often head over to Key Biscayne. That’s where I really unwind, going to the beach with my kids, doing some fishing, just slowing things down a bit. It’s a completely different pace from the city.
How about a little leisure or culture?
A lot of my free time revolves around my kids. They love going to the Museum of Ice Cream. It’s fun, colorful, and something they always look forward to. We also spend time outdoors at Jungle Island or head to the zoo. And one of our favorite spots is Crandon Park, where we’ll go fishing and just enjoy being by the water.
We’re a very outdoors-driven family and we try to stay active. That means tennis, golf, kitesurfing, and even mountain biking out in Virginia Key. It’s important for me to keep that balance, especially in this industry, where things can get intense. We also enjoy the sports culture here. We’ll go to events like the Miami Open, catch an Inter Miami CF match, especially with Lionel Messi playing, and get out to Heat basketball games when we can.
Any weekend getaways?
When I get a chance to step away, my ideal weekend escape is Punta Mita. It’s an easy flight and once I’m there, everything slows down in the best way. We usually spend most of our time on the water. I have a boat there, so the days naturally revolve around the ocean, fishing, surfing, kitesurfing, even spearfishing when conditions are right. If we’re lucky, we’ll also go whale watching, which is always an incredible experience and a reminder of how special that place is. Places like La Rustica are a favorite and sometimes we’ll spend time at the Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita for a more elevated experience.
What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
I treated myself to a ticket to the Miami Open finals, because every once in a while, it’s worth stepping away and enjoying something at that level. On the health side, I invested in a Bemer system to help with my back pain, which has been a real gamechanger, given how much time I spend on my feet. And living in Key Biscayne, I decided to buy a golf cart to make getting around easier and more efficient.
What store or service do you always recommend?
One thing I genuinely recommend to just about everyone is the Eight Sleep Pod Cover. It’s a mattress cover that actively heats or cools you throughout the night, and it’s made a noticeable difference in how well I recover. Being able to dial in the exact temperature you sleep at might sound like a small thing, but it’s huge.
