Cafe La Trova is always a favorite. Besides being a great restaurant, it’s home to one of the best rum bars in the US, and widely considered among the top in the world. I usually order a classic mojito, which is one of the best I’ve had anywhere, and the lechón asado is exceptional, very flavorful and authentic. Since it’s right across from our Brickell location, it’s an easy go-to when I’m in the area.

I also spend time at Contessa in the Design District, just across from our Hästens store. It’s a refined Italian restaurant with a great atmosphere. I typically start with the octopus agrodolce, and the lobster capellini is a standout. The bar is also a great option, especially on weekends when it stays open later, offering a lively, but still elegant, setting.

How about a little leisure or culture?
I like to start my day at my gym, Anatomy. I use the full wellness circuit, cold plunge, hot jacuzzi, sauna, and steam. It’s something I prioritize, both physically and mentally. As a sleep expert, I try to live that philosophy daily and integrate it into how I connect with others. I also enjoy attending Miami Heat games with my family. It’s a great way to unwind, and being there together, surrounded by the energy of the city, makes it special.

Any weekend getaways?
For a quick reset, we often go to the Keys. It’s close enough to feel effortless, but still like a true escape. We like staying at Cheeca Lodge & Spa in Islamorada, which has a relaxed, refined atmosphere and excellent service. The oceanfront suites and beach casitas are especially great for families (intel). We keep things simple there. I enjoy oysters Rockefeller by the beach with a mojito and taking in the surroundings. One of my favorite experiences is the sunset cruise from the property, a peaceful way to end the day. More than anything, our time in the Keys is about slowing down, being together, and prioritizing wellness.

What was your last great vacation?
One of our most meaningful trips was to Bali last year during a global partners meeting. My wife and I stayed at the Bvlgari Resort Bali, where the level of care and hospitality was unlike anything we’ve experienced. I’ve encountered at least a handful of martinis claiming to be the world’s coldest. They’re mostly in Manhattan, and deploy everything from liquid nitrogen to an ice-block-encased bottle of gin or vodka for tableside preparations. And generally, I’ve been underwhelmed, finding the drinks so cold (some claim to be chilled to -27 degrees), they’re hard to touch, let alone taste. But at Mimi Kakushi, the restaurant tucked inside the newly reopened Delano in South Beach, the Nara Nara won me over.

It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Thursday mornings start early for me. I’m either at Goat Shed getting work in with my MMA team or doing conditioning at LEGACY (intel). Goat Shed is a crazy mix of high-level fighters, music blasting, people hitting pads, cameras rolling, and everyone chasing the same goal. There are fighters from all over the world in there every day, so the energy is different. I usually start with recovery and mobility work, then MMA training (either sparring or drilling). If I have time in between, I’ll train some private clients to improve their fight/MMA skills.

Afternoons look completely different. As a professional fighter, there’s a business side to the sport, too. I’ll often jump on calls with sponsors and partners, including the team at NO DAYS OFF Premium Water, where I serve as a brand ambassador. We’ll discuss upcoming campaigns, content ideas, appearances, and ways to continue promoting proper hydration and performance for athletes.

Miami has been huge for my career because there’s no shortage of elite training partners and people who push you, along with major content creators and exposure opportunities.

What’s on the agenda for today?
Right now, it’s all about leveling up and staying ready for the next UFC opportunity. Today is strength and conditioning at LEGACY, physical therapy and then recovery. I’m also spending more time building my personal brand and connecting with fans outside the cage because fighting nowadays is more than just fighting.

Nutrition and staying healthy is crucial for me. I make sure everything I put in my body is clean fuel. NO DAYS OFF Premium Water is my go-to for staying hydrated. The Miami heat plus two-a-days is no joke, so hydration is a full-time job out here.

Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
I’m disciplined during camp, so my spots are usually cleaner food places, but Miami has too many good options. Apple A Day Café in South Beach is one of my favorites. It’s a family-owned Miami staple that has been part of the community for more than 30 years. If I’m finally having a cheat meal after a fight or celebrating a big win, probably Komodo, or somewhere on the water with friends. When my family or friends visit from San Pedro, CA I usually take them around Wynwood or Brickell because the energy feels nonstop there.

How about a little leisure or culture?
Most of my life revolves around training, but I still try to make time for fun things outside the gym. Miami makes it easy to unplug for a couple of hours. Sometimes it’s just going to the beach or catching a Heat game. The Kaseya Center always has something going on, whether it’s a concert, UFC event, or major show, so I often find myself there.

Miami has a unique energy because everyone here is trying to build something, whether it’s in sports, business, music, fashion or art. Being around that mentality motivates me a lot. I love attending events during Art Basel, Miami Swim Week, checking out new restaurants during Miami Spice or going to any of the many creative events that are hosted here.

Any weekend getaways?
The Florida Keys are probably my favorite quick getaway from Miami. It’s close enough where you can leave after training and completely reset mentally. The good seafood, being on the water, and slower pace make it a perfect place to be after a hard camp.

What was your last great vacation?
It was more for work than a vacation, but I recently flew to Yekaterinburg, Russia, with Karate Combat to shoot some content. It was an amazing place and a hub for combat sports. The people were cool.

Miami’s summer of sports is heating up at the Phillip and Patricia Frost Museum of Science (Frost Science), where guests can experience Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits.

Last winter, a new high-design, budget-friendly boutique hotel opened quietly on a residential stretch of Harding Avenue in North Beach.

Hiding beyond a hedge of native palms and birds of paradise, Maison Felix is a two-story, 29-room hotel anchored by a courtyard swimming pool inside a restored midcentury-era building.

The bungalow-like compound’s architectural style is typical of Miami Beach from that time period, but my friends and I couldn’t help but remark that it feels a bit like Melrose Place, with rooms wrapping around and overlooking the central pool. Here, rows of stylish green and white woven rattan lounge chairs in a chevron print bookend each side of the pool, while ground floor rooms with Juliet patios open directly onto the deck.

Room interiors take a bold approach in a palette of burnt orange and black, with floors embossed in a custom pin-stripe pattern reminiscent of a teak yacht deck (which extends to the pool deck). They’re decorated with local art, sculptural lighting fixtures, and woven textiles. With a range of suites (some including separate living rooms), coupled with the residential setting, and low-profile (yet friendly and available) staff, it’s easy for Maison Felix to feel like a home away from home in North Beach. Exceptionally comfy king-sized beds piled with pillows also help.

There’s no on-site restaurant, but a basic complimentary breakfast spread and coffee are offered every morning. Still, you’re better off venturing to nearby La Sandwicherie, Manolo Argentine bakery, or Carrot Express for your morning routine. Barely two blocks to the beach — the hotel provides complimentary chairs via Boucher Brothers — and practically at the foot of the Miami Beach Bandshell, a stay at Maison Felix is a thoroughly local experience. It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Thursday mornings, like every other day of the week, usually start early and move quickly. My days are typically filled with five to eight meetings, connecting with the teams that bring our brands to life (marketing, social media, creative, digital, and membership programming). Depending on the priorities of the moment, I’ll also spend time with our culinary or mixology teams, entertainment, or design/construction teams as we develop new venues or refine existing ones.

What’s on the agenda for today?
Right now, we’re coming out of the opening of one of our newest venues, AVA MediterrAegean Coconut Grove, so the focus is on post-launch alignment with the teams. That means reviewing assets, refining messaging, and making sure every detail, from the guest experience to the storytelling, is perfectly aligned with the brand vision, while keeping in mind the pace and workflow of ongoing activations and deliverables for the other venues.

Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
A lot of my weekends revolve around visiting our venues, and experiencing them the way our guests do: Saturday brunch at AVA, Saturday night at CLAUDIE, and Sunday brunch at CASA NEOS by the water. Outside of our restaurant group, my favorites include Uchi, Mandolin, and Casa Tua. I also love staying home to recharge when I can.

How about a little leisure or culture?
Saturday morning usually starts with yoga, followed by a relaxed afternoon by the pool with my family. Most of the time, Sundays are dedicated to my boys’ soccer games or hanging out with friends and their families — either we go to the museums or any available ongoing exhibitions, or barbecue.

Any weekend getaways?
St. Barths is one of my favorite quick escapes from Miami. It has that rare combination of Caribbean beauty and weather and European spirit and lifestyle, which makes it feel like my closest shortcut back to the South of France. I most often stay in homes, but my favorite hotel is Eden Rock. Favorite restaurants on the island include La Guérite, Tamarins, and Bar des Prés.

What was your last great vacation?
I always return to my hometown of Cannes, France. It’s the only place I truly recharge, surrounded by family, lifelong friends, and the Mediterranean lifestyle that originally inspired so much of what we create at Riviera Dining Group. Over there, I do a mix of culture (Fondation Maeght), restaurants and parties (Shellona in St. Tropez, Gigi Ramatuelle, Les Moulins de Ramatuelle), beach clubs (La Môme Cannes), strolls, and farmer’s markets (Valbonne’s is my favorite).

What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
My Whoop 4.0. It’s been fascinating to better understand recovery, sleep, and overall wellness while balancing a demanding schedule.

What store or service do you always recommend?

It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
Thursday mornings, like every other day of the week, usually start early and move quickly. My days are typically filled with five to eight meetings, connecting with the teams that bring our brands to life (marketing, social media, creative, digital, and membership programming). Depending on the priorities of the moment, I’ll also spend time with our culinary or mixology teams, entertainment, or design/construction teams as we develop new venues or refine existing ones.

What’s on the agenda for today?
Right now, we’re coming out of the opening of one of our newest venues, AVA MediterrAegean Coconut Grove, so the focus is on post-launch alignment with the teams. That means reviewing assets, refining messaging, and making sure every detail, from the guest experience to the storytelling, is perfectly aligned with the brand vision, while keeping in mind the pace and workflow of ongoing activations and deliverables for the other venues.

Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
A lot of my weekends revolve around visiting our venues, and experiencing them the way our guests do: Saturday brunch at AVA, Saturday night at CLAUDIE, and Sunday brunch at CASA NEOS by the water. Outside of our restaurant group, my favorites include Uchi, Mandolin, and Casa Tua. I also love staying home to recharge when I can.

How about a little leisure or culture?
Saturday morning usually starts with yoga, followed by a relaxed afternoon by the pool with my family. Most of the time, Sundays are dedicated to my boys’ soccer games or hanging out with friends and their families — either we go to the museums or any available ongoing exhibitions, or barbecue.

Any weekend getaways?
St. Barths is one of my favorite quick escapes from Miami. It has that rare combination of Caribbean beauty and weather and European spirit and lifestyle, which makes it feel like my closest shortcut back to the South of France. I most often stay in homes, but my favorite hotel is Eden Rock. Favorite restaurants on the island include La Guérite, Tamarins, and Bar des Prés.

What was your last great vacation?
I always return to my hometown of Cannes, France. It’s the only place I truly recharge, surrounded by family, lifelong friends, and the Mediterranean lifestyle that originally inspired so much of what we create at Riviera Dining Group. Over there, I do a mix of culture (Fondation Maeght), restaurants and parties (Shellona in St. Tropez, Gigi Ramatuelle, Les Moulins de Ramatuelle), beach clubs (La Môme Cannes), strolls, and farmer’s markets (Valbonne’s is my favorite).

What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
My Whoop 4.0. It’s been fascinating to better understand recovery, sleep, and overall wellness while balancing a demanding schedule.

After teaching, I get to sit down for my weekly mahj game with some of my closest friends, catching up on life, kids, and everything in between. Then it’s a quick check-in at home and I squeeze in a manicure before heading to Coconut Grove, where I host mahjong nights at Sadelle’s every Thursday through June 18. If you haven’t come yet, you should definitely consider it. The food is delicious and the vibe is fun and relaxed. What could be a better way to end your Thursday and start the weekend?

What’s on the agenda for today?
Today starts with Pilates at La Gorce Country Club followed by breakfast with a friend at Carrot Express and a little time to unwind before running a few errands. Also squeezing in some prep for an upcoming work event at Miraval in the Berkshires. Then it’s off to ZZ’s Club Miami in the Design District. Ending the day with family dinner at Slim’s (intel) in Bal Harbour, the perfect mix of work, friends, family, and celebration.

Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
On the weekend we love to eat at Cafe Avanti, an Italian spot that’s been a favorite of Miami Beach locals for 40+ years. The owners, Louie & Jess, a father-daughter duo, are truly the best in the business. If we’re not at Avanti, we’re heading to The Grill at Bal Harbour Shops and if it’s a no-makeup, baseball hat kind of night, it’s definitely Flanigan’s Seafood Bar and Grill, another local favorite. If you know, you know.

How about a little leisure or culture?
I recently went to the Dolce & Gabbana exhibit at ICA Miami (through June 14) with a few girlfriends and it checked every box. Absolutely amazing and not to be missed. Afterward we headed to Le Specialità (intel) for brunch, then stumbled upon the Peel soft serve truck — and if you love bananas, trust me, it did not disappoint.

Any weekend getaways?
We love heading to Palm Beach for a quick getaway, and our favorite spot is The Colony Hotel (intel). First stop is always Sant Ambroeus at The Royal Poinciana Plaza for lunch, then a stroll through the shops before checking in and heading straight to the pool. Truly the best people watching around.

Later in the day, we head to Worth Avenue for some shopping, sneak in a quick nap, then dinner at either Palm Beach Grill, Renato’s or Swifty’s at The Colony Hotel. Repeat for two days and the battery is completely recharged for the week ahead.

Also getting excited to spend my summer at Tanglewood in Lenox, Mass. Always look forward to James Taylor on July 4, a tradition with friends that started years ago, and this year especially excited for Paul Simon, Jon Stewart, and Ziggy Marley with Trombone Shorty, just to name a few. Sitting on the lawn with a picnic and glass of wine is easy, fun, and the weather always feels magical.

What store or service do you always recommend?
I am a big supporter of JAFCO (Jewish Adoption & Family Care Services) and recently attended their annual luncheon on the University of Miami campus with over 400 women in attendance. It was such a beautiful and inspirational day, highlighting the incredible work they do for children and families in our community. JAFCO provides a safe and loving home for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, trauma, or difficult family situations, while also offering family preservation programs, mentoring, and support services to help keep families together whenever possible. Their impact on so many lives is truly remarkable and very near and dear to my heart.

I am also a huge supporter of public education in Miami Beach, having chaired the Quality Education Committee, held nearly every position within the PTSA, and volunteered countless hours at all three public schools my children attended. Supporting our schools and community has always been incredibly important to me.

Dry-aged vibe

The Skinny: The team behind New York’s iconic Roberta’s, co-owners Brandon Hoy and chef Carlo Mirarchi, planted a flag in Miami at the end of last year with Ezio’s, an upscale Italian steakhouse inside a stray North Beach new build luxury condo, bringing a new level of fine dining to the area.

The Vibe: Sleek and airy, with distinct touches of warmth. The high-ceilinged dining room encased in glass is unquestionably shiny and new, but a color palette of warm woods and hunter green with deeply veined marble, patina mirrors and leather finishes appropriately set the scene for a stylish, elevated steakhouse in the subtropics. A purple palm frond-like Venetian glass chandelier crowns the room where there’s a handsome bar near the entrance crawling with pothos vines and a wall lined with cozy two-top booths in a tropical flora pattern. There’s also outdoor patio seating beneath pretty pink and green striped umbrellas.

The Food: A meat locker displaying beautifully marbled dry-aged steak greets you at the door for a glimpse of what’s to come as the crowning jewel of a meal at Ezio’s. The restaurant’s custom dry-aging program runs the gamut from a 60-day aged Imperial Ranch bone-in wagyu strip to a 55-day 27-ounce bone-in ribeye. On a recent visit, we opted for the 12-ounce Snake River Farms wagyu zabuton, which I can confidently say was in the top three of any steaks I’ve enjoyed, beautifully charred crust, tender, juicy, and flavorful.

The rest of the menu consists of raw bar, classic primi dishes with a twist, and pastas. It’s a menu with so many temptations, I found it hard to curb my desires. Considering team Roberta’s, I couldn’t resist the pizza fritti, a luxuriously fried confection topped with simple tomato sauce, whipped buffalo milk ricotta and basil. We started with East Coast oysters, but conch ceviche is also on offer. The cantaloupe with prosciutto was another simple, yet beautifully executed hit, with macadamia nuts and basil. There’s also a fairytale eggplant with sour cherry agrodolce and a selection of fresh salads, from a spring greens Caesar to Ezio’s riff on a wedge, prepared with guanciale, roasted tomatoes and stilton. The one weak link may have been the pasta where the sauce for the rigatoni carbonara and linguini cacio e pepe was nearly identical and a little too thick.

The Drink: With over 100 wines on offer much of the selection focuses on Italian regions. In addition to a sophisticated and varied list of martinis, cocktails are creative, elegant and unexpectedly memorable. Take the Italian in Jaurez, blending mezcal with amaro for a perfectly balanced aperitivo with a kick or the Serpentine made with cachaca, herb oil, vermouth and a mist of absinthe.

The Verdict: A welcome addition not only to the North Beach dining landscape, but Miami as a whole, Ezio’s is excellent destination dining, serving some of the best dry-aged steak in town — or anywhere. –Shayne Benowitz

Seven new spots for Hamptons summer dining consideration, plus a bonus pop-up.

→ SAG HARBOR: This summer in the Hamptons, some of the toughest seats to snag aren’t at a flashy waterfront restaurant. They’re at Babe’s, a tiny 20-seat classic all-day American diner in Sag Harbor serving pancakes, burgers, and milkshakes. It’s a project from Julian Cavin (Greenberg’s Bagels) and his wife Martine Langatta, plus record exec Jonny Shipes and his wife Arielle Shapiro. The place is backed with local ingredients from Quail Hill and Balsam Farms, shaped by former Almond chef Anthony Petty. Expect myriad egg dishes, a classic Reuben, even a chocolate-banana milkshake in tribute to the late, iconic Cyril’s BBC boozy shake. Open, walk-ins only.

→ SAG HARBOR: The casual dining theme continues at Miracle, the American restaurant from Michael Nolan of East Hampton’s Fresno and the original, long-departed Miracle Bar & Grill in Manhattan. He has transformed the former Vin Sur Vingt plot into a dark, gray-toned dining room with a bar and freestanding circular tables. The menu is by chef Jesus Gonzales who also oversees Fresno; dishes include a Balsam Farms roasted beet salad with a lemon-feta vinaigrette, and a Duroc pork tomahawk. The cocktail program highlights classic cocktails retooled with seasonal ingredients, with sweetness largely coming from fresh fruit. Reserve.

→ SAG HARBOR: Zagara, opening inside the Faraway Sag Harbor hotel today, is a seasonal coastal Italian restaurant led by chef Jarad McCarroll (previously of London’s Chiltern Firehouse). It leans into seafood-forward dishes like black sea bass tartare with horseradish cream and dill oil, and lemon risotto with mascarpone, basil, and pine nuts. The room leans heavily into pearlescent wood beams, Venetian plaster, antique mirrors, scallop-trim shelving, and Ginori porcelain meant to evoke the feeling of dining inside a seaside villa.

→ SOUTHAMPTON: After last fall’s fire and a full new buildout, Namiro Sushi reopened this month with a new six-seat sushi counter and its original lengthy list of maki rolls plus a few additions, like a soy-ginger-marinated salmon with asparagus and leeks. Reserve.

→ BRIDGEHAMPTON: Apart from its light, seafood-forward fare, one of the main draws at Nourish by The Roundtree (which stands in for Arthur & Sons) is the drinks from lauded New York bartender Takuma Watanabe of Martiny’s. His menu will highlight local and seasonal produce in his signature minimalist Japanese style, with additional attention to zero-proof offerings. The restaurant comes from Roundtree owner Sylvia Wong, who has enlisted Bali-born, French-trained chef Dewa Wijaya to build a wellness-driven, East End ingredient-focused menu. Expect hydrangeas, reclaimed wood, and a whitewashed indoor/outdoor aesthetic. Reserve.

→ EAST HAMPTON: Lion’s Nook represents yet another road back toward approachable dining. Alex Rossi’s Springs Tavern has quietly become one of the few dependable year-round restaurants out east, and this follow-up, which is taking over the old Rowdy Hall space, is designed to bring that same formula into East Hampton Village itself. Expect tavern energy, and fairly priced American plates.

→ MONTAUK: Chelsea Living Room has taken over Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa’s Dune Lounge for the summer. The vibey American restaurant moves in with its martini-heavy formula and caviar-laced bar snacks, plus dirty martinis, pickletinis, pigs in a blanket, and a lobster-and-caviar toast designed for the new seaside space.

→ POP-UP: The Hamptons is increasingly hungry for high-end sushi, particularly chef’s-choice omakase. This year Kevin Garrison, who helms Sushi Koju at the Ace Hotel Brooklyn, will pop up at East Hampton’s Maidstone Inn for four nights: July 6 & 20 and August 17 & 31. He’ll serve an 18-course menu for $300 per person to 10 guests per night seated at a communal outdoor table. He’s planning signature plates such as local fluke sashimi with ponzu sauce finished with shaved black truffle and 10-day-aged cold-smoked king salmon nigiri crowned with ossetra caviar. Each guest will also receive a citrus-flavored gin-based complimentary drink, The Maidstone Spritz. Reserve.

It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
My day typically starts around 10a at The Surf Club Restaurant. The first part of the morning is about getting the team aligned for the day. We hold a quick briefing to go over the prep list, the reservations for the evening, and any special events. From there, the pastry kitchen shifts into prep mode: setting up mise en place for service, organizing stations, and making sure all components, sauces, and garnishes are ready. Throughout the morning, I’m checking quality, tasting, testing desserts, and making adjustments where needed.

Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
Miami has an incredible restaurant scene, and there are a few places I always enjoy. COTE Miami is a great experience, an elevated Korean steakhouse that holds a special place in my heart, as I celebrated my four-year anniversary with my fiancée there. Bouchon in the Gables is always a classic for French bistro cooking done at the highest level. It reminds me of my time in Paris.

How about a little leisure or culture?
When I’m not in the kitchen, I like to stay active. I enjoy playing soccer whenever I can — it’s a great way to unwind and stay connected with friends. Living in Miami also means the beach is never far away, so relaxing by the water is one of my favorite ways to reset after a busy week in the kitchen.

Any weekend getaways?
Two of my favorite quick escapes from Miami are Key West and Bimini in the Bahamas. It’s always nice to stay at a beach club and enjoy a well-made cocktail or two. One of my favorite recent trips was traveling through France and England, visiting Lyon, Roanne, Paris, and London. Lyon, in particular, is an incredible city for food. I visit L’Atelier des Augustins every time I’m there and I recently discovered Regain. I also can’t mention Lyon without noting that the brioche aux pralines roses from Pralus is a must-try.

What’s a recent big-ticket purchase you love?
Recently, I bought the Roomba Plus 505 Combo Robot, and it’s been fantastic.

It’s Thursday morning. What’s the scene at your workplace?
My day typically starts around 10a at The Surf Club Restaurant. The first part of the morning is about getting the team aligned for the day. We hold a quick briefing to go over the prep list, the reservations for the evening, and any special events. From there, the pastry kitchen shifts into prep mode: setting up mise en place for service, organizing stations, and making sure all components, sauces, and garnishes are ready. Throughout the morning, I’m checking quality, tasting, testing desserts, and making adjustments where needed.

Any bar or restaurant plans today, tonight, this weekend?
Miami has an incredible restaurant scene, and there are a few places I always enjoy. COTE Miami is a great experience, an elevated Korean steakhouse that holds a special place in my heart, as I celebrated my four-year anniversary with my fiancée there. Bouchon in the Gables is always a classic for French bistro cooking done at the highest level. It reminds me of my time in Paris.

How about a little leisure or culture?
When I’m not in the kitchen, I like to stay active. I enjoy playing soccer whenever I can — it’s a great way to unwind and stay connected with friends. Living in Miami also means the beach is never far away, so relaxing by the water is one of my favorite ways to reset after a busy week in the kitchen.

Any weekend getaways?
Two of my favorite quick escapes from Miami are Key West and Bimini in the Bahamas. It’s always nice to stay at a beach club and enjoy a well-made cocktail or two. The Skinny: The new Japanese café from the team behind Coral Gables’ acclaimed SHINGO, STAND. is bringing Tokyo cafe scene energy, great matcha, housemade milk bread, and surprisingly affordable prices to Miracle Mile in a fast-casual setting. It opens for business today.

The Vibe: Tiny, quiet, and intentionally understated, the 24-seat café feels like the kind of neighborhood spot you’d stumble into in Tokyo, full of regulars. Minimalist interiors, warm natural light, and shelves lined with ceramics give the space a calm, quaint charm ideal for a slow breakfast or lingering coffee break.

The Food: When I stopped in last week for a pre-opening tasting, I found the milk bread to be the star, and in every form imaginable. Thick-cut and toasted, piled with sweet corn, cheesy miso béchamel, and kewpie mayo is exactly what I never knew I needed, while the curry shio pan (inspired by partner Kenzie Motai’s favorite childhood snack) is genuinely unforgettable. The sandos, ranging from egg salad to katsu and even sweet fruit, are also terrific. Bento boxes offer easy lunch options, while the onigiri (rice balls) make for a good on-the-go snack.

The Drinks: STAND.’s matcha might be the best in Miami right now. The café sources directly from farmers in Japan, and both the matcha and hojicha have a depth and richness that stands out in a city full of places to get Matcha. For those who like a touch of sweetness, the signature matcha can also be made with fresh strawberry puree.

The Verdict: Thoughtful, personal, and refreshingly accessible, it’s a surprising but welcome addition to Coral Gables. –Amber Love Bond

The Four Seasons Hotel and Residences Cartagena opened its doors in April. Instead of feeling like a shiny new build resort dropped into Cartagena, the hotel is folded into the city’s history, weaving together a 16th-century cloister, restored theaters, and the historic Club Cartagena into one sprawling luxury property in Getsemaní, on the edge of the walled city.

Spanning a series of restored landmark buildings, the developers assembled a team of architects, designers, restorers, and artisans focused on preserving the property’s sense of place. Some spaces feel grand and dramatic, while others are more quiet and intimate, with breezy courtyards, colorful tiles, and lush vignettes that draw guests in.

There are two broad categories of rooms to choose from: contemporary rooms that are classic, bright, and everything I’d expect at a Four Seasons, with a chaise lounge chair and desk area. Then there are the rooms located in the historic Cloister. These so-called Colonial rooms are darker and moodier, with high ceilings, four-poster beds, and a much more unique aesthetic, plus direct access to the property’s peaceful courtyard.

It’s also home to Major Food Group’s first South American outpost with The Grand Grill (a riff on The Grill in New York City) and Bar LeLarge. On my visit just a few days after opening, a glamorous steakhouse energy was already evident at the former, and I sipped tropical cocktails made with local fruits at the latter. There’s also a lovely rooftop with two pools and a separate restaurant with panoramic views of both the city and the sea, plus Pizzeria Della Chiesa on the ground floor with a patio that spills out into the street.

As far as exploring Cartagena goes, one morning we wandered through the colorful streets of Getsemaní and the Old City before shopping. Another day, we chartered a boat to the Islas de Rosario to snorkel in the perfectly clear blue waters before lunch on a private island. Locally loved restaurants, like Carmen and Celele, plus popular cocktail bars like El Baron, Havana Cafe, and Alquímico are all within walking distance. Back at the hotel, I enjoyed a relaxing Amazonian-inspired massage at UMARI Spa.

For a city already overflowing with beauty, energy, and culture, Four Seasons Cartagena feels like the start of a glamorous new chapter for the Colombian city’s luxury tourism market — and maybe even the hotel brand, too. –Amber Love Bond
